What Child is This (Зелёные рукава) Адония 2003

Tommy was the best rock-based guitarist who ever lived. He was a contemporary of Jimi (who was brilliant--don't get me wrong). Tommy could play anything. Listen the solo on Dreamer. The best rock solo ever.

In this Rainbow gig in Munich he did some great job, no doubt about that. But check out the video called Deep Purple - Ritchie Blackmore Guitar Solos (Live), here on youtube. I think that comparing to the old, good Rainbow stuff, those solos sound... let's say, not quite enjoyable.

A Genesis-esque ending. How cool!:D

Are you sure that it's Jimmy Bain on bass? Isn't it Bob Daisley?

Its a tape delay. These were the days before digital delay pedals...

1.Robert Plant
2.Freddie Mercury
3.Roger Daltry
4.Jim Morrison
5.Axl Rose
though Gillan and Dio are definitely in the top 10. i'd also like to have david coverdale and aretha franklin up there.

no.indian classicals are better in the whole world.i am not a indian but i still know it and i say that indian music beats every classic bach or beethoven and mozert

yea, today the "best" live bands are the ones that sounds EXACLY like in the studio.. if i want to hear their studio sound i just buy i cd..

Blackmore + Dio + Powell= Rock!!!

Greensleeves, was allegedly written by old Henry, but 16th century Greensleeves is by Ritchie and Ronnie.

This is so awesome !!

Was that a tape recorder on
the stge ?

how did Cozy die? I rly miss him (great song btw)

just look at his face when he plays- he looks fucking mental- but you can just see the love and passion there. That's why he's such an amazing guitarist

long live king RITCHIE

Un tres grand guitariste ce Ritchie Blackmore, quel son envoutant !

this is such a great song, very Renaissance-like

yeah what?

you're right moonie, Ritchie was reknowned for inserting a bit of Bach during this, I was stood 3 ft away from him at Leicester Granby Halls in November '77!!

Can't agree more!!! Long Live Rock And Roll!!!!!!!

Well...Aside from the first 2:30...an incredible piece of footage...

Brilliant!

It's also a Bethooven I don't remember the name of

Ha ha ha ha!

many lolz

awesome...if you like this song listen to "lost in hollywood" very good one :)

rainbow bu işi gerçekten çok iyi biliyo

I hope Ritchie knows its okay to look at the guitar sometimes LoL, Talk about makin it look easy

Bach - 3rd Brandenburg....

This was cutting edge in the 80's and still is great rock and roll in 2008 hellyeah RAINBOW.

i completly agree with u christine i share the same opinion

I dont know bout Ritchie being high. I know that most of the bands back in the 70's must of been lol. But Ritchie comes across as a completly focused individual, the no nonense type. I cant see him floating around with his head in the clouds,.

what a band the best rainbow

Blackmore great as ever... But don't get me wrong, it may be my mistake, but i think, that this is one of the first gigs wher Bob Daisley played on bass and David Stone on keyboards.

Yeah, and of course Kill the King and Deep Purples Mistreated

Most of the time credited by Henri VIII of England, but nobody's sure.

Dio + Blackmore ftw!

On the live set How The West Was Won, Page finger-picks some classical melody but its sloppy and tbh sounds ameteurish. In my opinion Blackmore is just hands down better than Page as a guitarist.

RIP Cozy Powell :(

This is one of the best concerts in the whole music story. This is one of those moments...

Who?

this is the greatest slow rock of all times.....long live rock n roll....

Henry 8th didn't write it. proved by historians. tune was known in Britain in 16th century.
Read about it in "Alison Weir: Henry VIII: The King and His Court."

Hey, Tommy Bolin was effing *amazing*, too. He just died right as he was starting to get a whiff of the big breaks.

walter e yngwie son la fiel copia y plagio de blackmore

The best band ever seen... great song, long live Blackmore and Dio!
I think that in this show the lineup was Ronnie James Dio -- Vocals
Ritchie Blackmore -- Guitar
Dave Stone -- Keyboards
Bob Daisley -- Bass
Cozy Powell -- Drums

I love Blackmore and Dio! \o/

I do. Blackmore is for sure a very good guitarist, but as for live soloing the reality is no match for a legend, I'am afraid... This particular intro is good, I'd even say it's very good (I'am pretty sure I hear a hint of Malmsteen's "Black Star" in it...), but many of his live solos sound awful...

The song is greensleeves.

Happy birthday, Ritchie

More Blackmore ,, cheers !

greensleeves

Monzat ¬¬''

lol you are great

is there a better rock/opera guitarist??
dont think so -

You can hear elements of this in Yngwie Malmsteen's Black Star Overture.

And a difficult fuck all the same! Yes, a great guitarist!

A fantastic ROCK'N ROLL classic!!!!!!!

through the 80's ritchie was voted best guitarist in the world. with angus yung at second and michal schenker at third. bloody obvious why! rock god at work by the name of ritchie blackmore!

DIO !!

little kids will play. Go to bed children, do you know how foolish you sound to me?

He Was awesome

malmsteen really should stop trying to sound like a bumble bee its never went anywhere so tell hime to play guitar with a bit of feeling..Ritchie is playing history here and he continues it with Blackmores Night so wake up everyone

,as said by metallica..

sad,
but true.
..
Guitarists rule the band, Better believe that.
Drummers work the band,
Singers Promote,
Bassers deepin (hence; deeeep purple..),
Keyboardees and pianists; bring a feeling of beethoven and newcorebeethoven.haha. As that is a feeling of its own.
Others bring new levels of music.
And change can be good, if not good enough.
But, yeah. I agree man, singer has the weakest link to the band.
I mean;
Who wants to be a promoter?..hm.

If you like improvisation then Ritchie and co are the best

Ricthie Blackmore's playing can move me to tears or give me an adrenalin rush! not many players move me like Ritchie. In my opinion Rainbow was one of the greatest rock bands EVER! Of course there are many more bands and musicians I love, but every time I hear Ritchie I will run to the speakers. I got to see him just before he retired from the limelight. and let me tell you being a guitarist myself for 30 years, Ritchie Blackmore put me in a spell-bound state that I never want out of!!!

The Ultimate RAINBOW line-up if it had existed would have been Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie Dio, Roger Glover, Toney Carey or Don Airey, and Cozy Powell.

ah ye, i'll have a root around. like ur vids by the way! well appreciated

Blackmore is a much better player. Saw them both in concert several times, but Page is a better song writer.

i listen all day blacmore if he plays with dio

blackmore blackmore is the best he is so flexible like no other guitar player.he plays blues ,jazz and neoclassic style and this he is doing in a awesome way.i dont agree with you blackmore is a same great virtuoso like page more better i guess in my opinion

RJD's singing gives me chills, never fails. Also great peak at Ritchie's beloved tape machine preamp

how to download this video, please tel me

awesome material richie blackmore at his peak.best show i ever seen from him.and dio and powell awesome too.legendary line up.powell doesnt seem to me to stop play the drums same richie would say to him see you in the lobby bar later, buddy,hAVE FUN PLAY THE DRUMS

Dull but interesting???

anyone know what he plays from 1:12 to 1:50 ish

oo thats so sad..

BEST 5 VOCALIST EVER
1.RONNIE JAMES DIO
2.iAN GILLAIN
3.fREDDIE MERCURY
4.OZZY OSBOURNE
5.ROBERT PLANT
ANY OTHER LISTS PLZ POST THEM

After 7 months i looked up at the video. Richies hand gesture at the end of the solo is like: "Ok. I finished. Now you can do what you want". I heard that he was big d.ick to the rest of the band but I love this guy. Part of the solo between 4:10 and 4:15 is my favourite. I know it's short and it's nothing but shit - shivers factory!

they need this on (please forgive) Guitar Hero.

Yes it is and I got the Live in Munich dvd last week. I would like to see a Rainbow dvd with Joe Lynn Turner like the Bent Out of Shape tour. Never saw Rainbow in concert. By the way Stargazer isn't on the dvd. It's really good anyhow.

I love his music!

But...in this vid he looks a little bit like mr. bean :D

me too

ritchie blackmore. and jimmy page is second

1:24 is just beautiful **tear tear**

One of the greatest songs ever
Rainbow(and Blackmore of course rocks)!!!!!!!

I love where Ronnie drops his voice at 6:08. That's just awesome.

KREATOR.

Rainbow and Ritchie are the legends in rock music together with Dio they fucking owns and will always do nothing more to say thats it ......!

Making love with his Strat...

Candice wans't there yet! :p

Who the fuck is RJD?

I am an American ,and I could not agree more. But alot of the best Brit rock was borrowed from the American blues and jazz artists. But on the whole,American rock and roll has been rather sad for the last say 40 yrs.I always look across the Atlantic for something interesting music-wise.

kind of very dull book but verrrrrrrrrry intresting

the best guitar of the world for ever! he is the bettoben of the XX century!

Classic! RAINBOW ROCKS!

the Brandenburg concerto piece ! Brilliant,
its really an organ piece,,Blackmore plays it
beautifully, just shows that the man is a REAL
virtuoso

Wow I love Blackmore.

Early Rainbow was the best. This CD/DVD along with the CD Black Sabbath Live Evil is where DIO sings his best.

and you have no sense of humour...I'm sure captaingimli was just being witty, hence the exclamation mark (!)

He played good on Come Taste The Band, too.

in this formation best band EVER !!!!

Ohh ur definitely right. Britain has the best musicians in classic rock and metal. haha yeah, there are probably 100 people there. crazy lineup changes in such great bands. many had lineups with just one or two original members.

There are better ones but ritchie is a god

well done, fourth grader.

yes I love Steely Dan yes all those guys, but Blackmore was good too, just not as good as Larry Carlton, Or John McLaughlin.

he plays guitar.

it is greensleeves in in...and a theme from bach from the "brandenburgische konzerte"; if you dont´t remember: blackmore loved bach as he always noticed on the lp´s.

Amen :D

Ritchie is te ONLY guitarist/musician of any genre that makes me want to learn to play Classical, and that is extremely hard to do because Classical music of any kind BORES me to tears, how does he do it?

Ritchie is undoubtedly the most naturally gifted musicians in our time and still quite unterated, which makes us knowledgeable musicinas and/or fans more lucky, because we know how to appreciate great music :)

Top rating always :)

Well, I mean. Is there a song where they play the whole melody. Just the melody, because this intro reminds me of some old song that I can't remebemer the name of. I wonder if there is like a song with just the melody and now singing and such? Thanks for answering!

The original is still the best. On piano iI mean.

why are we arguing about singers though? if anything i'd think guitar would be the topic here, blackmore kicks ass. definitely in the top 10 guitarists IMO

blackmore a legend

Fuckin A!

dude this makes me wanna cry because this is good music but the most part of the kids now listen to rap and hip hop so...
LONG LIVE ROCK N' ROLL

Well hell, keep up the good work Eddyheadmaiden.

So you judge his whole career on a few videos on youtube??

wow arena quality greensleeves

guys like blackmore malmsteen seem to get bored easy there just too good.

anyone know what he plays at 1:24

bad ears?

Dont be fooled by todays rap and hip hop...i listen it also...it is very good music...bit this today is...i dont know how to call it...music is dying...rap and rock...

Agree! Wach my video "Best Drum Solo Ever!!! Cozy Powell"

Long Live Rainbow!!!

wher was it?

Could it get any quieter?

perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Comment ever :))

LONG LIVE ROCK N' ROLL :))

Blackmore is the ultimate guitar virtouoso! He can play anything

This album was Recorded during 20 February till 14 March 1975 at the Musicland Studios, Munich, Germany. Awesome. Germany is home to the Greatest Beer and some of the finest Metal bands that ever existed.

thx do you have the tab???

He SAID: rainbow bu işi gerçekten çok iyi biliyo!
Weren't you listening?

yeah, but nobody can play like Ritchie Blackmore

Green Sleeves was actually composed by King Henry VIII of England.

I have that dvd, is great!

Where did these last 30 years go????? I remember seeing Rainbow several times and this clip brings it back like yesterday. What an awesome band they were. Very few bands today like Rainbow!

this is really awesome!!!
I don't like classical music, but I do like this

Cozy Powell is immense.

I'm a huge Ritchie Blackmore fan and always imagined this song with me, crossbows, people wearing green colors (gotta check that) and swords, killing, slashing the other side,
and other general fun. Plus rug burns from the air guitar sessions...

I beleive they're called fags lol

Pretty much all the Steely Dan session guitar players I know alternate picked cleanly. As well as a whole lot of other rock session guys.

If you consider rockabilly in the rock category, then Elvis's guitar players or guys like Albert Lee were amazing alternate pickers.

Let's see who else: Phil Keaggy, Brian May *yes him*, Robert Fripp, Fred Frith...

And if you consider Mahavishnu John McLaughlin rock...well...then...yeah...no words needed.

But true; Jimmy Page is a shitty alternate picker.

Blackmore was one of the fastest Player at this time and he's done a good job but he's an ignoramus. Since Morse play at Deep Purple they play songs they never could play, because Blackmore wouldn't do this...
Rainbow is a fantastic band, but blackmore changed the members all the time. At the end he changed bonnet to turner because turner was from america and bonnet not(he want to beak in a new market --> america). So sing together with dio: Kill the King ;)

he distroys a great band so he's god that makes no sence and he makes pussy music bubble gum pop sucks

ten stars for this

Yes indeedy. Heer Schenker is a fine, fine guitarist and as you rightly say, he is German.

When I look at the 11 bands I listed and all the different personnel those bands have had over the years it must be close on 100 people.

How many Germans are in that 100?

Michael Schenker Group and Scorpions

great song but WillieDines1 made it sound gay with his comment!

Great song, btw!! but by today's standard, since theres no satanic screaming, and no repetitive pounding E chords (max distortion, of course), and no half-naked bimbo who can moan into a mic., It just can't be appreciated. CURSE MODERN MUSIC. with a few exceptions.

... And furthermore, is this a question too?

best rainbow line-up

A legendary song from a legendary band...
What more???

Just simply excellent

Don't know. But you can get the dvd called Rainbow Live In Munich 1977.

my fave rainbow song. I wish there was more rainbow dio music.

As the melody is called that play to Ritchie blackmore before beginning the Sixteenth century greenslaves song

Somebody to respond

Interesting, the year and the place is right, but this is not the same version as the Live in Germany 1977 disc.

If you are one of those that are babling about something you no nothing about. Then you go to bed also. If not, then get off my ass.

But Deep Purple started in 1968... had their best album in 1972 and so on... Rainbow is right after them and these 2 albums (Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Rising) are Ritchie's best in Rainbow... So go somewhere else with your Judas metal stuff...

For a bit it looks like there are only 4 rows of people watching

you kidding right?

Holy crap! Look at that guy's shirt!

That's not Tony Carey on keyboards in this clip; it's actually David Stone

the one and only rainbow.

so the best

FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!

dude didnt malmsteen copy from blackmore.cuz malmsteen started playing around the 1980s.u dont know a shit about malmsteen and blackmore.cuz malmsteen got inspierd by blackmore and he copyd blackmore soo f ing much.

Greenpeace si pushing 'climate change' which is fiction from nuclear power. How much did they pay?

didn`t you know? the electric guitar was built right after the pyramids, they where very big, and took four men to handle. the electricity it required was only aviable by lightning, and playing it killed many potential rock stars. because of the danger playing it it was rarely used, and is only mentioned on the fifth page of the bible (which was lost in editing in 1156).

This has always been one of my fav Rainbow songs, ever since I first heard it. I musta been 16. Lovely intro by Ritchie. This must be the lineup with Daisley and Stone.

Possibly...

...But if you think Blackmore is poor Live..you've obviously never seen him, or heard Live Albums , such as Deep purple's made In Japan, or Rainbows Onstage.

man such a shaim that ronnie james lost his voice

rainbow is the friggin most awsome band ever.. (at same place as sabbath, dio, led zeppelin, maiden, and the rest of the classics) man.. im seriusly born way 2 late.. xD i wanna be born then not now in this shitty music society with no taste of music whatsoever! god i hate it O.O

Haha, thats pretty funny considering he usually only wears black much like Edmond Blackadder. Which Blackadder though, the 1st?

i think ritchie should have been classic guitarist instead of being rock guitarist.

is it Bach?

wow, since when are half-naked bimbos a bad thing?

I don't think so, it's greensleeves, which they say has an unknown composer

Long Live Rainbow!!!

Ah, now I know where I've heard it. There is a rendition of it on an Eliot Fisk CD that I own. I'd have to listen to the CD to find out the song and composer.

Ritchie got lessons from Big Jim Sullivan.
So did Steve Howe.
Come to think of it - Jimmy Page learnt a lot from the man !

Big Jim also played on the only UK classical guitar hit single.

Bet you didn't know that !

I wish I could figure out how he gets that doubling effect, at times it's like he's got a harmonizer.. but he got it back with Deep Purple too. On Highway Star it's pronounced, his solo sounds a lot like the Hammond.

jimmy bain kicks ass i saw him play a couple days ago with the holly wood allstarz! even though he is like 60 he kicks ass!!!

You misunderstand. Blackmore is my fave guitarist and dio is my fave singer. The point I was making was based on something someone said: 'Rainbow were before Priest by ten years'- this is not the case. Blackmore's rainbow was released late 75 and rising was released in 76. R B made 3 studio records- who do we think we are, burn and stormbringer (after '72's machine head) with Purple before he formed Rainbow. Yes Deep Purple pre-dated JP but Rainbow came a little later.

i hope someday i can afford an yngwie strat, i just sit and stare at the pics, and picture myself playing it. Sad i know:(, reason i thought of yngwie should be obvious by the way. if you dont know why your a retard.

Mind you, we spend so much time being good with music that our football is rubbish. lol

He's playing Greensleeves, you arrogant fool.

Well, he is a classic guitarist

Give your soul to rock and roll!!!

???

Moments like this make Blackmore's Night all the more plausible: an artist echoing his soul's content, just bleedin' great....

the best ever richie blackmore

blackmore was easily an still is the greatest guitar player to ever live , im 53 an seen an heard them all, he could be a country, or killer blues player, but he combines al different stuff sometimes,, theres no one better, speedy yes, but that dont make a guitar player great, its doin many different kinds beter than anyone all the time, he has a fire under him, and is sure of himself.

cozy:the best rock drummer in history

What an amazing guitarist,,to go from a delicate intro...to a hard hitting rock riff..this man is a genius, anyone disagree ??

Page is maybe a bit better to play guitar, but Blackmore is THE BEST to make songs, if you ask me

This blows the studio version away. Awesome!!!!

Forget the detractors, dreamhealer, you're right. He IS the man - incomparable (writing as a guitar player, btw, not an armchair theorist); check his back-catalogue, ffs.

I couldn't stop laughing at your comment.

he has a right to be a prick hes a legend.

Ritchie didn't do drugs back then and of course not now that he's old. In fact almost no one in Deep Purple did drugs, apart from marijuana now and then. The only "junkie" members in Deep Purple were Glenn Hughes, who had a cocaine problem until the early 90s, and Tommy Bolin, who was a heroin addict and died from a multi-drug intoxication. What an untimely death, as Tommy was a REAL genius, like Blackmore, just different styles.

damn that was good playing.

Agreed!! Don't forget Brahms, Teleman, Bruckner, Homilius or Wagner either.

with all respect, i prefer ritchie with rainbow cause he seems so much free to do what he wants, he feels so alive and something about him i understand and can really enjoy his playing, this is amazing, really enjoyed the first classical peace to the rest of the song, a line up with dio is amazing to! one freaken awesome riff!

wot about cozy powel best drummer ever fast as fook

hmm hai
hmm äh ja
or so
so u folks i hope u doing allright tonight* im so sorry i am new here* mist but i like rainbow as well* so mit tarot woman und den ronny james bei black sabbath ah ja country girl oder so similar the song called* äh anyway i am a fan od dp und lz* way down inside

i always thought of lost in hollywood as a rainbow remake of pictures of home... it starts with drums and speaks of someone away from home... just a thought (;

I love you man

Oh Really?! I'll have to see about getting that online somewhere. I have the Final Cut on VHS and it has all 3 of the singers Dio,Bonnet, and Turner through the years. Very cool and thanks for telling me.

one of the best guitar player

muy interesante!

is Greensleeves the song he plays at the beginning cuz i though that was awesome

Yes youre right, problem was Judas Priest,s album was KAK!

Well, yeah, but not all would agre that Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow og Rising are the only great Rainbow albums, Long Live Rock And Roll is also great, and On Stage is not bad either. The same with Deep Purple, Machine Head is great, yeah, and it is their most known, but the Coverdale and Hughes Purple has some great albums too, like Burn, Come Taste The Band and Stormbringer.

Long Live Rainbow and Deep Purple!!!

beautiful

the actual writer is still up in the air but i do think someone else wrote the song but Henry added the lyrics

5 Stars*

All Hail The Lord Of Sirius
AMen Aaron' Men John & Jesus

ronnie james dio is god

Amazing Blackmore's intro, amazing blackmore's solos, amazing Dio's voice, amazing Rainbow song!!!

The best band EVER!!

im 13 ive been listenin to rock all my live
ive turned 100 rappers into rockers

what a feeling by blackmore..

tillman maybe>? wasnt he from belgium i might be wrong haha

Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, third movement.

It's so GREAT!!!!!!!!!

Listening, absorbing influences... I meant that he was inspired by this video to create the intro for "Black Star"... at least some part of it.

Exelente composicion.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but "Green Sleaves" and "Scarborough Fair" were both written in a time where no one kept records of the original lyrics. And niether are certain. Killer Ritchie,I never knew he did this tune.
Thanks for posting.

your fuckin gay

his annual birthday :) lol i dunno what age..doesnt matter, ritchie = immortal, a gift bestowed by the gods for being such a great guitarist.

no, withhis heart

^^

Everytime I hear this intro, I feel like I'm being taken back in time, to the period in which music like this was played in palaces and grand halls of stately homes and what I enjoy most is, that Ritchie has that delicate touch that really makes this music really stand as a testament of time :)

Another top rating performance by Ritchie, and a top rating for the video, which is also added to faves :)

Yeah, it's a DVD, and you can buy it in a music.

A+ That is a rought translation.

It's just a compliment on the artist who is performing this song.

Greensleeves?
Alas, my love you've done me wrong
To cast me out discourteously...

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

Muhahah,lol
wtf does it mean?

Ritchie Blackmore or Jimmy Page? Age old debate. Settle it now!

Who is better?

No problem JohnBarryHurst. Glad I could help..

ye it is! and was awesome!

What an increadable performance.

This "Sixteenth Century Greensleeves" is on a CD version of "Live in Munich 1977".

Simply one of the best Hard Rock performance ever. Cheers !!

how does he DO THAT?!

I got the CD and DVD for this show, its BETTER than studio albums =)

Ha, a soulmate. At Last!!

Ritchie + Dio = .....no words...

isn't this the gig from munich 1977?

Hehe. One of the strangest and most irrelevant comments I have seen yet, anywhere. I suppose you personally know these people, though, which is the only way your emotional and overly personal diatribe would make sense. Anyway, back to the music we go!

Actually, Judas Priest pre-dated Rainbow by about 2 years. Priest's first album was released in '74: rocka rolla it was called. Rainbow's first record was either late '75 or '76.

This is just wonderful. This entire concert - and many other from the era - is also wonderful. All the improvisation going on really adds to the impression (as opposed to nowadays when most artists tend to just play the studio versions of their songs live, without daring to twist them a little bit).

i fuckin love it!

check out my uploaded greensleeves video

furious the best song

The 20th

I love blackmore...

"Best guitar player in history"? Get over it...He`s ONE of the best maybe. A Mandrax casualty who loved culturevating a bastard character....

Ritchie Blackmore is God as a matter of fact, and Dio is jesus !!!

i bought 'black knight' the other day, the unauthorised biography of ritchie blackmore, and it must be said, hes amazing..everyone thinks hes stroppy and they might be right but he had some really funny sides to him!

what aguitarist eh? Song first written by henry the eighth

RAINBOW LIVE IN MUNICH 1977 great dvd and cd to!

Blackmore rulez...

k, osborne was cool. but not best ever cool. cmon man. he doesn't have range. he has diffrentiality. Plant on your list; should be first. Just on your list though.

RITCHIE BLACKMORE RULES!!!

Este es lo que querìa decir ;)

Ritchie Blackmore seems to having sex with his guitar. His feeling is simply amazing, noone like him. He's the Best Guitar Player in History.

which birthday is it??

Gosh! Blast from the past. My first album! Didn't think it'd be on the tube...although its a different version from that on the album...

"when he wrote this"?

LOL. Are you retarded?

Greensleeves. I think there is a blackmores version tab, but i dont think its acccurate.

If it was mint...wouldn't it be a Polo Shirt ??

rock all your life...kid...get real...first time i heard 2pac was when i was 9....first time i heard a rock song (For those about to rock (we salute you)) was when i was 8...talk about a life of rock...

now that i think about it judas preist was like 10 years later, so judas preist sounds like this

my bad

^^

Blackmore is, indeed, the greatest guitarist of all time. Live, however, he was very patchy. He seemed to get bored quite easily by his songs. The guitar solo on "Strange Kinda Woman" will always inspire. Clean picking, wonderful note choice and occasional surprises that leave you breathless. He even left in a bum note on that particular solo because it somehow didn`t matter.

This melody that this guy is playing at the beginning (the intro). Where does that Melody come from? I just LOVE it!! Please, reply if you guys know where it's from.

he was high most of the time......as well as rest of the band as a matter of facts...... just a comon thing to be high in the 70s as part of the rock n roll culture although it's not good to be taking drugs or anything like it (I've been a metalhead since I was 13 years old, now I'm 47 and I do not do drugs) or alcohol or anything like that.........if I want to get really high I just rock and the music does the rest taking me to the sky......without limits...rock and roll is pure energy.

Ritchie IS the man. been watching that due for over 30 years; still awesome

there's just one thing that bothers me... why rainbow never gave ronnie a sword during shows, that would have been bloody good!

idk for dio hes on par with blackmore in terms of importance for sure :P

lol

Ritchie Blackmore it's a GOD!!!

whats the piece from 0 - 1:23?
I know its french one, but i want blackmores version :P

where can i get the tabs for the intro solo he did

la entrada es la misma que la cancion en el disco tributo Blackmore's castle tocada por Reign of terror! impresionante version! grande Blackmore!

NoONE band...

Sorry about all the responses JohnBarryHurst but, I believe it is Paganini's Caprice #24.

wow....I got really harsh goose bumps.....

it just shows how good this music is that we are still playing and listening to it.

A new Rainbow yeah, but the truth Rainbow will always be Gates Of Babylon, Long Live Rainbow!

I dont agree, Before this line-up there was Jimmy Bain on Bass and Tony Carey on Keyboards. It was this line-up who recorded 'Rainbow Rising' I saw both line-ups live and although both were amazing Bain and Carey win it for me!!

IF U HQTE GILLIN U HATE GOD THEN GOD HATES god hates u GOD HATES YOU U WILL GO TO ROCK HELL 9called r AND B I HOPE U SEE WAT U DID

"Meet me when the sun is in the western skies"

Even more beautiful..and correct too !

One of the best Rainbow songs. Awesome performance by Dio and the band.

ronnie james dio has (had) a very good voice. too bad he is so cheesy live.

but the line up is blackmore , dio powell , carey and bain not daisley and stone this was later ;) ive got the album "on stage" in munich and in the booklett you can look it up ;)

awesome german classic music.
Nothing beats Bach,Beethoven and Mozart.best music ever written and richtie knows this as well.

Who's Not!

This is fantastic! Dio sure does know how to project his voice on stage. Five stars man!

You, are a douche without imagination.

with his fingers?

Oh come on, have a sense of humor. Richie is on of the greatest guitarist ever.

Ritchie is so tallented guy :)And Dio's voice is immortal.

Gods Times!!!!!!The Best Formation of Rainbow!!!

Brazil!!!

This is just an example. I'm not a heavy Blackmore-listener, but from what I have seen I'm quite sure I can tell, that Ritchie is not in the shape he was in with Rainbow... But maybe he's simply getting old.

lo que pasa es que lo admiran, ¿por que crees que tienen una strat color crema?

cozy powell is a amazing drummer but i hated him in sabbath except for one exception, when he helped make the dehumanizer demo's with ronnie dio and tony iommi, dio is kickass and ritchie is a amazing guitar player, such melody, makes me wish i could play guitar like tony iommi from sabbath and ritchie combined, SO HEAVY but filled with blues and classical melody, long live sabbath and purple, and rainbow, long live dio, tony iommi and ritchie

Blackmore wrote this 300 years ago When he was a wandering minstrel in medievel England

First time i saw this video ,I was like whos that girl on the organ lol.

joshyman12312 Since they were considered musicians?! hows that? People often forget that the word "Musicians" comes from the word "music." I forgive ya. Like there arent enough of them running around today anyway, god!

Fantastic! Always prefered Deep Purple/Rainbow to most other "metal" from the day- except Maiden of course!

why i cant tell anything i want ? this is a public place!

Que?

Maybe you mean you can hear a hint of this in Black Star..as this was recorded in 1977..where was Malmsteen then ?

I should say Led zep wrote better songs that Purple, but not really sure who is a better song writer page or blackmore.
I do know that Blackmore plays better than Page and all of his contemporaries for that matter.

long live Ronnie James Dio

He studied that at twelve..

If that was sixteenth century Greensleeves. I didnt know they have electric guitar in the sixteenth century and rock out.

RIP Cozy :(

The song YEARS later was tuned into "What Child is This"......(the Christmas Carol)

Rainbow !!!! Kill the King !!!! Blackmore- true genius

you cant compare page and blackmore both of them have completely different styles that make them great guitarists. Page's guitar playing is a little more bluesy and blacmore is a little more classical

STEVE HOWE RULES!!!

Richie is a true minstrel!

lol

this sounds like a judas preist song

It sounds extraodinarily familiar JohnBarryHurst. I just can't place it.

Blackmore is a master guitarist... One of the greatest of all time..
Its just a pity he's an arrogant obnoxious arsehole.
He is so far up himself that he's not sure which way the sun shines.

Those were good times...

Hiya!

You're right about us Brits picking up on American blues/jazz artists. Leadbelly, et al didn't have to face the same racial issues that there were in America.

British artists picked up on the American roots music and did a repackaging job which launched their own careers.

All Metal is brought to Germany on the Red Carpet and offered to them as Gifts. Germany is King of Metal. Look at where Rainbow recorded.

Ok, according to turkishdictionary-dot-net The sentence said something about Rainbow being "truly very good".

Blackmore rules the world!!!!!!!

Richie Blackmore,Ronnie James DIO,COZY Powell.!!

There was a time (pre-Birds) when Page was a formidable, clean, dangerous picker, almost Buchannon-ish. But speed and articulation are not what Zep era Page is about. He did have some moments, though.

Ritchie is a guitar God.

Who made it?

yes.. the man in black rocks indeed.!

well rock on paul

What could be more satisfying that Ritchie Blackmore AND RJD? Ahhhh.....

he's playing "what child is this", music neophytes

I think you'll find that part of that was by the
German composer Handel or Bach.

i actually prefer ian paice to cozy powell but ritchie blackmore and ronnie james dio are still awesome

Ronnie James Dio?

cekaj... sta? pa recimo da je on neku pesmu cuo sa 6 godina, to cini njegov rok - more all life nego tvoj, ako bas moramo da pricamo tim terminima... sto ga napadas? vidi se da je klinac KLINAC jer tako prica - bas kao sto bi i svako drugi ko ima 13 god... ne kontam tvoj komentar :S a namerno necu da pisem na engleskom xD lol

u ostalom - odlicna pesma... Blackmore je ...... zar se treba reci? A Dio-ov glas je.... izvanredno :D

gt all these songs on 12 inch , scratches and all

Great stuff...gloomy as fuck...gotta love it!

63 !! Happy birthday GOD, a bit too late but sincere!!!!

Legends, Dio, Blackmore, Powell !!! Dream team!!

But there is another truth is Rainbow became a pop group after Dio!! Gates of Babylon vs Since you've been gone!!!!! it is so sad!!

Ritchie Blackmore is definitely one of my favourite guitar players together with some more classical educated guitar players such as Julian Bream and my favourite classical guitarist, the sadly departed Narciso Yepes.

Hi Charm91 !!! This version of 16th Century Greensleeves is perfect ! Here we have the best Rainbow's line up ever : Dio, Blackmore, Daisley, Powell (RIP Cozy) and Stone. What a wonderful rythm (especially from 6:08 to 6:40) and sound !! Many Many thanks for posting this video. Cheeers !!

I totally agree!! This man is my God to me.

Car crash :(

holy fucking crown epic glory

fine!!! great piece the best of the music

Blackmore's second solo has to be among his very best played on stage - as good as, if not better than his solo in Child In Time on Made in Japan. Such incredible fluidity and passion...wow, he is the best ever.

Ronnie wearing bluejeans...lawl

: D

ha-he was one of the first rock guitarists to alternate pick fast and cleanly. Just compare the solo on led zeppelin's heartbreaker to his solo on deep purple's highway star.

Page is maybe a bit better to play guitar?? No way dude!! =)

Perfect. : )
Can't get tired of watching this one...

(please, take a look at Blackmore at 5:50 =p)

that is a pretty good list, though I think Ozzy kinda ruins it, and Dio is too high. I'm going to surprise some people and throw in some soul singers

1. Freddie Mercury
2. Robert Plant
3. Jeff Buckley
4. Jackie Wilson
5. Chris Cornell
6. Sam Cooke

Gillan is probably tip ten, and Gillan is close too.

Totally agree with you Beast! To be honest I like Jimmy, but Blackmore has more soul than any other living guitarists... doesn't matter which genre they play!

seriosuly wtf are you babbling about

ma ne napadam ga...nego ga malo spustam na zemlju :D...bolje sad nego poslje...poslje ce bit teze...a i slazem se odlicna pjesma...Blackmore Bog...a dio....ma perfekcija

Malmsteen is my hero, but i noticed that he can never be as good as Blackmore, yeah Malmsteen got the speed and the classical phrasing but Blackmore is more classical than him

AH right cheers mate, much appreciated

DAmn LOL!!!!

I know what he said damnit, you cant read?!
He said: rainbow bu işi gerçekten çok iyi biliyo

Meaning: Rainbow bi is gaycekten cock i billie

meaning his Rainbow is bi, gay at ten, with a cock in his billie =D

dio and blackmore pure magical.

another great song from the munich '77 dvd is do you close your eyes (when you're making love)it's awesome, and cozys drum solo

what a great sound ritchie has i love the crunch that you get right in the begginning LONG LIVE RAINBOW!!!!

there are better ones

Something to do with Rainbow, I presume

100% pure class. Did those who saw rainbow at this time realise just how good they were ???? (me I was just 6)

This kicks ass. Plain and Simple. I wish more guitar players today played like this.

Richie just is simply the best guitarist ever just listen to his into so classical brillant and just unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!

LONG LIVE ROCK "N" ROLL

i agree with you 100%

anyone got the mp3 version of this? I own the dvd and the On Stage album. But the On Stage album version isn't the same (it's without the bach piece)

"lead me when the sun is in the western skies" so beautiful <3

That What makes Blackmore the greatest alive, his mix of Rock n Roll with his Classical training. Wen i hear him i wanna cry :-)

Is this a question?

All 3

Why were David Stones Keyboards so low in the mix?

Dio sings just right

I agree. Comparing Blackmore with Morse is like comparing a tiger to a cat.

yes, THE ONE.

this song was around during Shakespeares time as he is quote saying in one of his plays "Let the sky rain potatoes! Let it thunder to the tune of 'Greensleeves'! which was written in 1602 a whole 100 years before said blackmore

Yes I heard of the story about Ritchie going to Jail. Your right he didn't look that bothered by it during the concert and the fact that he made it there as fast as he could. The man in black rocks.

???????????

relax he is one of the best like hendrix page may and others (i like and murray from iron maiden but maybe you dont)

Well I did say " Allegedly ".

This is god playing.

Wow! Simply amazing.

They recorded a show from the Straight Beetween the Eyes tour (Live Beetween the Eyes) and their last concert with Joe Lynn Turner was also filmed, being released as Live at Budokan.

what a stupid and pathetic comment...get out of nappies... and dont bother with the usual reply as your arrogant or you dont know the music...

you are watching the shirt? omfg just listen to this amazing magic sound from Blackmore's guitar \,,/

he was a pretty awesome guitarist...but ritchie blackmore was an asshole to the bone. he was such a showboater, and he thought he deserved better treatment than the rest of deep purple, rainbow (formerly Elf) and every band he's been in. thats why hes had so many bands. everybody who's ever worked with him knows hes a prick.

riffs from classic music provide colurness to rocknroll, and ritchie is the best of it,but as other ,jimmy used hint-arabic riff

Whit th' buck? ur these troaps gonnae efter th' pick ay destiny?

alot of people left because the show didn't start until midnight because ritchie blackmore was arrested in austria a few night before and was late getting to this show

I was there too draccyman, with my brother..not as close as you though.

I'm 21 and almost none of my friends listen to this kinda rock music. Yet this is classical!

Ladies and Gentleman, the Greatest Guitar Player in history: RITCHIE BLACKMORE

Cheesy???

Ronnie's shirt is mint!

I want one!

my bad. didnt check out the description. ;)

Love this and was totally influenced by it, enough said

yeah, sorry with a misheard :-)

blackmore at his best

Rainbow is Rising!

I like Deep Purple until Gilian starts singing. God i hate his vocal. He ruined excellent Iommis' riffs on Born Again with his scratching vocal like monkey in a cage and I won't forget it:). Weakest link in Deep Purple for me. Sorry.

Richie is the best, hands down! No doubt about it. I have many groups I love but, you just can't top Richie in my humble opinion.

Hope I will. I would love to have a little chat there with Gillian.

Best Rainbow line up, 100 % sure !

Ronnie James Dio

Rainbows early lineup was history in the making, fucking awesome !

Malmsteen es el Hijo de Blackmore...

Ritchie B. Rules!!!

Ritchies guitar-sound is obviously unique. This fact suffices to argue that hes better than Page. Pages sound, compared to Blackmores, is like ear cancer. But i dont want to to say that Page sucks, cause Im a big fan of him!

Have to disagree there. UK is the king of metal and lots of other styles too. Other countries just copy.

70's was the golden age of Ronnie James Dio and Rainbow. <3 Best Rainbow lineup.

Cheers sire

then you agree that blackmore is better

they both are gods

I love in hte start during the intro, the finger to the lips to quieten everyone down

love this its just so chilling, richie must have been so high wen he wrote this

This is some good stuff. I dig it.

I mean all of you, even the wizards that try to impress with their lack of truth in their little tales. go to bed.

omg blackmore is sexy as hell

Brilliant!

well, after wath I have heard this is a greensleve song from the 16th century. This is actually from the 16th century too, and if you like it, Bob Dylan sings and play the whole song with vocals too, i think.

ummm ronnie still HAS his voice you dousche...

Yes. The amps were powered by fermented potato juice!

Want to know something pretty cool? Find out where this album was recorded.

In the 50s and 60s all the great music being recorded by the blacks were kept underground, and the racial tensions and fears kept alot of kids from ever hearing alot of it.When the Stones, Small Faces,Cream etc. finally did their own thing with these songs,it was an eye opener for alot of artists /fans.Thank God for the blues, and for the English rockers who saw past the racial divide and gave us good Rock and roll.

Ronnie James Dio is the best rock singer.

that's true he modified a Marshall 100 watts amp to make it the monster that he uses that give about 200 watts and that characteristic tone of Ritchie

You prick

mas rapida...pero jamas sera tan bueno como Maestro Ritchie

what?

Hey, menatol, have you ever heard about thing which is called JOKE. You don't have ANY sense of humour.

Guitar legend. Blackmore, Hackett, Gilmour, Howe and Morse my top 5.

Very true, I met Ritchie at a Blackmore's Night show last year. Seeing him play from five feet away proves your statement well. He is an amazing talent. None better.

Nah he modded it from 200 to about 278. He uses marshall majors, which are 200 watts standard.

Ritchie is great, i love him playing :)

ITS BLACKADDER PLAYING GUITAR!!

rainbow ares imply the bEST BAND EVER.
what a brilliant rendition here.

I think that tape recorder is Blackmore's pre amp. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that he built it himself.

greatest guitar player of the 70's- genius

always miss you.....

What other century was Greensleeves written in?

Blackmore = god.

Amazing musician... But I must say, he looks like Rowan Atkinson....

well Since you've been gone is still a good song even though its pop! But ye, can't beat the Dio line up

LONG LIVE RITCHIE

DIE STEVE MORSE

go to ultimateguitar (dot) com and search for greensleeves..its not ritchie's version but it sounds the same, almost..its without the touch of genius that blackmore gives it

Ah yes, fine German rock bands. But are they up there with Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Uriah heep, Jethro Tull, Wishbone Ash, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow, UFO, Yes, King Crimson, etc?

dio was terrible at manchester last year...

Love the performance

It ain't French. Its English. It has the same name with the video. Greensleeves

"are they up there with UFO?"
U do realize Michael Shenker was in UFO?
At that time he spoke no english, yet wrote a large portion of the music, so i'd say UFO is at least part German. :)

no, THE BEST

Sixteenth Century Greensleeves
Tarot Woman
Gates Of Babylon
Lost In Hollywood
Can't Happen Here
Ritchie!!! honorable mention to Dio!!!

And by the way, the song goes very much faster than on the album from 75'.

ritchie really captures the medieval classic note in his playing. he sounds very much like a lute player at the royal court before turning on the hard rock engine. GREAT GREAT GUITAR!!!!!!!

Huge !!! Huge !!! Huge !! Go Blackmore, Dio, Powell & Daisley !!

and bach didnt play this kind of music... he played baroque

What about Graham Bonnet ?

what du you mean by cheesy live? :-)

I've read it too, very interesting book.

Thanks draccyman and fleajr 1412-I was wondering
if i was the only the rockist to double as a
Classicist,as it were...It's one of the
Brandenbergische konzerte,not Haendel...guess
Henry was a bit of a renaissance genius,too..Never
Knew'Past time with good friends'was ascribed to him, also.

I play bass in a rock band and Trombone in a brass band, would that count?

nice too see this guy playing like this. Im only familiar with his balls to the wall style.

hell yeah its classical

to sontam99: Ritchie pre-dated and added more to neoclassical guitar than Steve Howe's relatively uninspired noodling. Ritchie has come up with memorable riffs and solos, seamlessly incorporating classical(and other)influences into a popular musical format - Hard Rock. Steve Howe(and Yes)often sounded directionless. Who do you think Malmsteen, Rhoads and EVH sounded more like? As for Uli, well he came after both of them, but Uli>Steve. Uli and Ritchie actually sound cool, thats important.

The best of times!!!

Estoy de acuerdo. Malmsteen es la copia mas rapida de Blackmore

true. I really didnt take the "music" part into account. Im all about the naked bibos lol

dio = legend

Richie is a tool, RJD RULES!

Nobody sounds better than Blackmore!
Even if you hate him you have to love him. I don`t know who the best gutarist is or if there is such a thing. Ritchie sounds the best of anyone I ever heard. Right tone right style perfect.

Can you buy this DVD? and where if u can!? i want it!

which song is it (the classical one)???

fantastic song, rainbow the best group of music.

text bun, super chitarist iar Dio...e oare un pseudonim ? e bun Atat!

they are same but ritchie oesn't want to play anything other than rock.but page played many genres.thats why people said page is better.but if page played only rock.people would say that blackmore is better

haha i loeve it bout 30 seconds in he puts his finger agaisnt hte lips as to tell the crowd to be quiet.

my dad loves ritchie blackmore. im' so glad his got me into him as well.

Ritchie is easily the best ever !!!!!! man is this incredible

he plays Greensleeves real cool and smooth

I think this was the best period for Rainbow. They had Dio in the band and their sound was good. They played some nice heavy rock and didn't overkill the keyboards, but that is not to say I don't keyboards. I think Rainbow got bad pretty fast after Dio left. Joe Lynn Turner is a rubbish singer and I'm not fond of Graham Bonnet at all. I think Blackmore needs to learn how to keep a steady line up because if Rainbow kept on with Dio, there would have been such killer music being made.

lol

malmsteen in slow version..amazing..

The better version of Deep Purple

greensleeves

Hmm!

Blackmore is actually alternate picking CLEANLY in this video. He's usually extremely sloppy and hidden under all that distortion. Kudos Blackers!

thanks, I found the cd :).

Great band!!!All time favourite :D:D

Actually, don't watch at all....the real test of any band is to just close your eyes & listen....

What's the piece from 1:23 to 1:48?

it's "greensleeves", a famous piece written perhaps by henry viii, the king of england.

And now we have Justin Timberfag. Entropy has devoured music in America and left us with the darkest abyss.

Allegedly !!

No. nobody cuoldn't....W blackmore

ok yes you're right... just listen \,,/

In the introduction, while playing greensleeves, Ritchie inserts the Brandenburg Concerto #3, which is indeed BACH.

ehh..ritchie plays renessaince music now? He is also one of the best blues players in the world! I've heard him play jazz as well, so he is a real virtuoso

lol is my steed ready ? i feel a joust coming on

Never! Not in Rainbow neither in Michael Shenker Group

cool this is the best song on that rainbow album

i hate people who compare great guitarists, dont mess with my Jimmy Page o.0
or Richie in the,its who you like more

How hard those rock riffs on Blackmore playing? it doesn't get any better than this!!
he is genious,,he is god,, if he is arrogant so what! If you truly pay attention to his guitar you will realise that he is musician rather than gutarist, I sometimes think that some point guitar becames too small for him,,he is the ONLY musician that plays guitar with feeling, and thankfully he chose Hard Rock,,,I think he is a gift from god to Rock music world, i love you Ritchie...

i also bought it.
good koncert. and im impressed that richie isn't in a bad mood. afterall he came straight from jail to this gig.:P
you heard the story?
