There won't be any. Sviridov passed away 10 years ago, and I don't think his heirs will take any legal action against Konami, because there was no such concept as copyright in the Soviet Union at that time. Technically creative works were all considered state property. Since Sviridov died after the collapse of the USSR, the argument doesn't hold much water, I'm sure Konami's lawyers could make use of it in one way or another.

In Western music, there are only 12 semitones, going even further, once the Key has been selected for a given song, that number can become 8 notes.
While the melodies themselves are strikingly similar, I highly doubt that Harry Gregson Williams directly stole knowingly from the composer of the Russian song. It was probably coincidence that the two songs turned out to have near identical melodies. However, there is difference enough to put any doubts to rest in my mind.

No way!!!

Great upload, thanks for the download!

Understand...to develop anything these days...reference must be taken...nothing is original anymore.
In any case the MGS soundtrack is awesome anyway and there is nothing not even this that can stop it....LONG LIVE THE MGS!

they may sound the same, but the big difference is the MGS version is superior.

I think there's nothing wrong getting influence or inspiration from other artists works. Although bad thing is how this little secret has been preserved or just nobody hasn't really cared that much. I listened the whole Snowstorm Suite and I got this funny feeling how it time to time sounded like 80s action / fantasy movie. Also some melodies are very similiar to Final Fantasy music. I've always loved Russian classical music due to their magical and storytelling like athmosphere.
Submitted by Anonimous
If I am not mistaken, copyrights only last for 20 years after a composition, meaning they would've expired in 1994, 4 years BEFORE MGS1 came out.

I swear, it's a hoax. That CD looks strangely fresh to me.... damn the Russians and the lie...
Submitted by Anonimous
You mean at TAPPY. Harry Gregson Willaims just did a classical version of the MGS theme that TAPPY had done for the 1st game.
Submitted by Anonimous
It isn't exactly the same, nor is it much like the Metal Gear Theme at all. Just the first bit of the melody, the rest sounds nothing like the Metal Gear theme.
Submitted by Anonimous
It wasn't Williams' fault. He didn't compose the Metal Gear Solid theme song. It was written by Tappi Iwase for the first Metal Gear Solid game. If it was plagiarised, he was the one that did it. Williams just remixed Iwase's song for Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3.

thanks to those russian fucks the songs not in mgs4
Submitted by Anonimous
I want to make a video about that fat bastard!
Submitted by Anonimous
Wow. I was expecting to be outraged. Skeptical. Maybe even dismissive. I'm actually blown away at how beautiful both of these songs are in their own right. I think I like them both now more than I ever did before.
Submitted by Anonimous
And what if MGS became famous because the musicians stole music from other composers taking their credit?
If you had spent 6 months working on a masterpeice of art and some copycat decides to rip you off without even a hint of appreciation for your work.
This is why copyrights exist.
You would be rather upset if i stole all the content from MGS4 and put it on oh i dont know the nintendo wii as the new pokemon game now wouldnt you?
Submitted by Anonimous
This sounds rubbish Harry gregson williams version much better
Submitted by Anonimous
i didnt recognize it but i only heared the metal gear saga theme not the metal gear solid theme which is about
2:20 or something which has similarities but the saga song owns this shit!!!
Submitted by Anonimous
it's not that similar... there's only part that is similar (the part from
1:34 to
1:50 that keep coming back sometime in the song) but the rest is completly different.
Submitted by Anonimous
why?! if you're going to blame someone, shouldn't you blame TAPPY?
Submitted by Anonimous
I have to say; I love Metal Gear, But the music is stole from the Russian composer.
You can see the portions were metal gear music goes really nice, and hearing this, you can spot the similarity right away!
But I have to say, the Japanese composer did really a good job enhancing the music!!
Submitted by Anonimous
Anytime somebody has a success on there hands there are always those who want to shit on them. Both songs are beautiful in there own right.
Submitted by Anonimous
Thanks for the rapidshare file. Also, the songs do sound SIMILAR, but not 100% exact. Again, it isn't Kojima's fault, b/c he didn't write it. Either way though, I'm sure Mr. William and Mr. Kojima were both apologetic, seeing as how no one got sued. Coincidences happen...
KOJIMA= GOD

I am russian and it is plagiarism
this music was writtent by Georgy Sviridov . He was vary famous composer.
This man is correspondent of russian game magazine IGROMANIA . And he is cool.
Submitted by Anonimous
In that case, Konami got screwed :\
They have some similarities, but the overall can hardly be considered plagiarism... More like inspiration.
Submitted by Anonimous

Submitted by Anonimous
i've heard this in a classic movie before

Submitted by Anonimous
To me it kinda sounds like a mix of MGS with Star Wars themes. Weird.
Submitted by Anonimous
Zelda surpassed it on day 1, and it's series has been consistently more fun to play than MG.
Submitted by Anonimous
they're similar, but its not plagiarism at all.
Submitted by Anonimous
WTF!!
Submitted by Anonimous
Pardon? I couldn't hear much past all the crumbs you spat over.
If MGS games are so good why where they declining in sales and ratings until 4, and then they go and nix the series because they couldn't hire an editor to remove the unnecessary dialogue and plot. Whereas HL2 even still sells well today, how many people go out and buy MGS3 these days?
Submitted by Anonimous
Funny enough! MGS4 sold way more than the Orange Box. and the Orange Box was on 3 different platforms and MGS4 was on one. Oh wait, yea thats right you Valve fanboys keep blabbering about the Steam numbers cause we all know retail numbers suck. All bs i tell you. If Steam numbers were so proudly high Valve would not have hesitated at all to release them.
Submitted by Anonimous
lol.
It's excactly like the Sons of Liberty theme.
I'd give my balls to save MGS's honour.
But you either have something in your ears or are tone deaf not to recognise the very clear resemblance of the pieces.
btw, your channel rocks.
Submitted by Anonimous
Wow, that was really insightful reply from your part.
And you know that it was just randomly plucked notes?
And considering they did not use the theme for part 4 because the fear of getting sued is not reason enough to suspect foul play?
And besides, what has copyright laws in Soviet have to do with anything?
I said it would be the HONORABLE thing to do and then they could use the part how much they wanted, i never claimed they were obliged.
Submitted by Anonimous
Its very, very similar. Yeah the MGS one is faster and is better overall but it is still plagarism. I mean if I take a part of a book and write a better one it is still plagarism.
Submitted by Anonimous
Interesting how they barely sound alike, if any shoould be suing anyone from japan would be gainax's evengelion's track "Decesive Battle" cause the intro to that is extremely similar to jame bond, they sound much like the same in the beginning.
But oh well, everyone needs a sample so I don't see why it's a big deal, I would've thank them if they got to it earlier so I didn't have to play raiden when it debut.
Submitted by Anonimous
the main verse is increadably alike, and Kojima didnt mmake the theme, i believe it was "Tappy" and if anything he should be sued.
Submitted by Anonimous
And its not kojima who made the music its tappy as redtangerine mentioned too not kojima kojima had that oh crap oh crap look cuz he was like wtf were they thinkin when they made the soundtrack and it became so famous and now this....
Submitted by Anonimous
You're implying there is theft there. There isnt, the songs arent the same.
This is simply the case of a group of idiots who should be ridiculed into shame causing problems.
A few notes sound similar, but they're not the same song.
Submitted by Anonimous
Anyone owning the original MGS1 game to nintendo can see that snake is a complete replica of Michael Biehn as his character for Terminator 1. The only new thing is a metal gear at the left bottom. Also big boss is a replica of Sean Connery whit a aye patch. That said it was common to do "look alike" game characters back then. About the song though, I can only hear a small resemblence at the beginning for a few seconds. Thats it.
Submitted by Anonimous
That's true, but Harry isn't the man who wrote the theme. Tappy Iwase is!
Submitted by Anonimous
Go fuck yourself and get some education.

Mildly, yes. At the intonation and the blatant satire.
Submitted by Anonimous
You missed my entire point, didn't ya?
Submitted by Anonimous
well, this is obviously plagiarism, BUT they made it better and used for one cause, to use as the main theme of the greatest video game series
Submitted by Anonimous
omg this bastard is no longer my hero
Submitted by Anonimous
oh please, don't be ridiculous.
Submitted by Anonimous
I don't believe it!!! They both sound almost similar
Submitted by Anonimous
I've been there! I accidentally stole the Stargate Atlantis theme in a piece of music I wrote, I was really annoyed!
Still, at least there's a proper explanation for not having this in MGS4 (although it is still in the MGS3 credits). Wish it was in there though.
Submitted by Anonimous
Yeah, that's right. Damn the Patriots, they're the REAL enemy!
Submitted by Anonimous
omfg, theres like 1 or 2 parts which sound slightly similar, other than that, this is completely different to MGS theme, man, people will whine at anything for a bit of cash
Submitted by Anonimous
Sounded more like something out of Star Wars to me. How that could provoke thoughts of Plagiarism, I wouldn't know.
Submitted by Anonimous
It's similar, but hardly the same and anyway, if there is any dodgey goings on behind it, it's Harry Gregson William's fault not Hideo Kojimas.
Submitted by Anonimous
If anyone stole it, it was TAPPY, not Williams. Either way, Konami should have just payed them any money they demanded so they could use it in MGS4. >_> I'd have donated for that.
Submitted by Anonimous
fuking russiannnnnnn

all of you are useless to the world
Submitted by Anonimous
Hideo had nothing to do with composing the soundtrack.
But they didn't use the theme in MGS4 anymore.
Submitted by Anonimous
they are similar but not that all the same
Submitted by Anonimous
Yes, man you Valve guys believe so blindly at what they tell you. Let's face it, absolutely no games on Xbox Live or Playstation Network has sold over 600k or even come close to and the games are anything from 2.5-10$. Way lower prices and that leads to impulse buys. If Valve has such high numbers they would with no doubt release them in order to entice other companies to join them.
Let me ask you this then. WHY on earth would Valve keep those numbers to themselves if they are so high?!?
Submitted by Anonimous

Igromania are assholes. They'll do anything to get famous. It was nice theme, that's a pity it's not present at MGS4.
Submitted by Anonimous
Igromania is distributed mostly in CIS countries. The circulation in November was 230k copies. So it's quite big.

Submitted by Anonimous
No good grounds for a suit. Granted, similar, but the songs are entirely different.

barely sound alike? Eh did you actually listen to the clip? This is even worse then the 300/titus plagiarism.
Sure, it sound better the MGS version, but it's still plagiarism, the honorable thing to do would be to acknowledge the "inspiration" and maybe even pay a small fee.
Submitted by Anonimous
It is alike in some verses like the up beat But other than that nothing else i mean the ending was terrible to be plagurised. i wont lie but Seriously thats like 40 years Old Come on... somone would of found out years ago.

I don't hear the similaritie.

I disagree Metal Gear saga is definitely NOT a better theme. MGS 2 and 3 had some horrible music. I'm glad some of the caution/boss music for 4 was awesome. The only Metal gear with a good ending song was MGS1 and MGSPO.
Submitted by Anonimous

those are two different songs. It is possible tappy did not even know that this song existed.
Submitted by Anonimous
Who cares lol seriously MGS is awesome and so is the music. Fuck some Russian composer.
Submitted by Anonimous
Frankly, they could care less about the fans. If Kojima is harbouring dollars because of the theme he composed and claim that it was all original from the get go, then the composer of the similar theme back in 79 has the right to step up demand a settlement for inspiring the MGS theme. Somehow Kojima heard the track once in his life and slipped by not acknowleging it as its initial inspiration. They could've made a deal to use it on MGS4, it was such a waste to end the series without it.
Submitted by Anonimous
doesnt anyone get it? all the more appropriate that it was influenced from russian classical music. how did big boss become big boss and how he led the russian army after defeating the boss.
Submitted by Anonimous
the kojimas version sounds better
Submitted by Anonimous
like hell did he nick it the man is really wacky but he has his honour
Submitted by Anonimous

Submitted by Anonimous
is this some kind of a bad joke to mgs fans?
Submitted by Anonimous
maybe they just wanted to use it as a template and thought no one else would notice after they have editted it xD
Submitted by Anonimous
srsly dude? it doesnt sound anything like it....ya sure it went into the melody path but cmon...
Submitted by Anonimous
That is scary, the chord progressions are spot on and the melody and rhythm are ridiculously close.
Submitted by Anonimous
1974? it should be in public domain by now...
Submitted by Anonimous
Because without copyrights they cannot sue anyone. I doubt seriously that the Russian government would have taken the time to file suit against Konami and Hideo Kojima for the use or four or five notes.
And they didnt use the theme not because they feared being sued, but out of the want to not have to go to court and delay the project because some idiot would file a pointless lawsuit that has no basis in reality.
But then again Russians have always been a bit behind.
Submitted by Anonimous
You're right, they are pretty similar, and come to think of it that theme really hasn't been used since MGS2. It seems to have been replaced.
Submitted by Anonimous
Omg, these stupid anglosucksons cry about copyrights the most, but don't intend to follow it themselves. What a hypocrites! The nation of liers!
Submitted by Anonimous
The theme, has changed.

What point

You all say - damn this fat bastard.Actually this journalist is a big fan of Hideo Kojima and Metal Gear saga.
Submitted by Anonimous
really?
thanks.. im glad to heard that
finally some of justice on this world XD
Submitted by Anonimous
Definitely exactly the same.
It doesnt surprise me as Kojima doesnt have a creative bone in his body. Snake was ripped of from Kurt Russel escape from NY and whatnot. Kojimas whole thing is plagiarizing Western movies, and of course really bad dialogue.
Submitted by Anonimous
"I've also got it on my PooSP"

Hideo will be like: "who gives a damn? baka !??"
Submitted by Anonimous
lolololol look at hideo's shirt
Submitted by Anonimous
mgs version is better =|
Submitted by Anonimous
Then why?
Submitted by Anonimous
I'm pretty sure he was joking dude.
Submitted by Anonimous
Sounds like a coincidence to me. After all, why would a series that openly draws inspiration from many films, books, and musical pieces steal one particular work?
Submitted by Anonimous
SYNCHRONICITY!!!
Submitted by Anonimous
but to be honest its really really close to it. Maybe the artist of the MGS theme did get the inspiration from it. But seriously, who cares?
People get inspiration from other peoples stuff on a daily basis. And as long as the original artist (and Copyright of course) is respected, I don't see any harm in it.
Submitted by Anonimous
oh well they changed the main theme anyway.
Submitted by Anonimous
Mmh...but from mgs3 the real theme of saga it has become "metal gear saga" from OST of Mgs4
Submitted by Anonimous
?
so different
Submitted by Anonimous
It's barely similar .... to the MGS main theme. I would call it learning from others maybe but it barely resembles MGS at
1:11.
Oh and BTW: getting scenes from MGS4 with the Russian music is just stupid since any fan of the game would simply know it's NOT the MGS4 music.
No plagiarism (full stop).
Submitted by Anonimous
poor hideo.
Submitted by Anonimous
i like the original Russian version more actually. What kojima shoulda done is paid royalties and used it.
Submitted by Anonimous
Is this why they changed it for MGS3 and for MGS4
Submitted by Anonimous
was that Michael Moore who showed him the CD?
Submitted by Anonimous
Jokes involving putting my Motherland down aren't funny. I'm sure noone would to hear anything like that about his country.
Submitted by Anonimous

Submitted by Anonimous
I can hear a few lines that exactly the same. If everyone knew a little more classical music they'd know that this happens all the time. Either copying the style, or down right line for line copying the melody.
Submitted by Anonimous
People want it to be.
It does sound similar, I'll give you that, but the MGS theme still is dramaticly different.
It's considered plagiarism only because people suddenly decided to be dicks over a little similarity between a modern videgame theme and a classical piece. Why, thanks for destroying the MGS main theme then.
Either way, I think "Metal Gear Saga" is a better theme overall, but the other one had that nostalgic feeling, which is now ruined because of this lawsuit bullshit going on.

To pl0x321:
Poles have only one outstanding classical composer Chopin
Russians have dozens of world renowned composers such as
Glinka, Borodin, Cui, Balakirev , Mussorgsky , Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Scriabin, Taneyev, Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Glazunov, Gliere,
Gubaidulina, Shnitke, Sviridov, Gavrilin etc. (its only what I remember)
Unfortunately, there is not much to borrow from poles (except jokes about them :)))

its just similar, but doubt they copied it

The meaning of plagiarism is copy something EXACTLY and call it your own work.
They barely sound alike.
NOT PLAGIARIZED!
Submitted by Anonimous
You need to listen closely, it sounds very similiar, but the notes are very different but there are interchanging moments between this Russian track and the MGS theme that makes the similiar, but the aside from the similiar beat and pace, they are 2 completely different scores.
Submitted by Anonimous
Also..if, and thats a BIG IF, they are related, it would be sudden and instant disgrace to any composer that knowingly copied another work.
Subconcious influence maybe, but intentional copying? I dont think so.
Submitted by Anonimous
Oh and Kudos to the investigative reporters!

OMG! Hideo! The Russkis are onto us! Now our plan to dominate the world by having a similar song to a guy that noone knows ruined!
I really wanted the MGS theme in MGS4 but these motherfuckers probably ruined it... FUCK THEM ALL!
Submitted by Anonimous
they copyied this song and made it still better

The opening have a seemed sound but meanwhile it is developementing, the Russian theme makes his own sound.
The casuality it´s only one resposable of this situation, and that the MGS4 don´t have our loved BSO.

But yeah - Its using the exact same structure and even melody line.
I don't think Hideo's very pleased :P
Submitted by Anonimous
It's not like you have an exact percentage of similarity at which point it becomes plagiarism. I'd say it's very hard to tell if the song has enough similarity to be classed as a plagiary.

i think the Metal Gear Solid version is much better than this. and to me it is pretty apparent that this is just a coincidence. for example how often do u hear a song then a few days later hear another one that is different but at first u think is the same. there are a few things similar however i dont think this is copyed it is just coincidence! Metal gears solid - best games ever!
Submitted by Anonimous
It's plagiarism, don't you hear it's the same melody, purily Russian?
If you listen to 'Muse' and Matthew Bellamy's interviews, he always acknowledges he's inspired by Rachmaninoff whose variations you'll hear in his songs. This is fair approach of a really talented person, perhaps a genious of our times. But these gents are just vulgar thieves who just ripped off the original theme hoping the general public will never know. But they do know! And I'm amazed people don't seem to care...
Submitted by Anonimous

lol i know, there are so many different variations of notes and stuff to chose form, eventually u will make something that sounds like something else, but this is really weird simpoy because it sounds exatcly liek the mgs theme
Submitted by Anonimous
haha, it looks like those robots are pissing out their ass!Toliet humor aside, they do sound somewhat similair, possible coincidence?
Submitted by Anonimous
even if it was "stolen" so what?????
mgs is more famous than that composer
Submitted by Anonimous
Wtf?
Troyka is an amazing piece of music, and it's theme was stolen.
You at least souldn't say bad things about the composer but his plagiarist.
Submitted by Anonimous
IT'S MORE OF AN INFLUENCE THAN A COPY. This is how I utilize most of my melodic influences, change a note or two or the rhythm etc.
Submitted by Anonimous
rofl matey way to rip into him :P

You've got to love his "oh shit" face =)

Я в шоке!))))) Ах он сволочь! Ворьё, ёпть! А я то думал, как такую гениальную мелодию написал какой-то малоизвестный японский хрен! Теперь всё ясно.
Submitted by Anonimous
I actually feel bad for Kojima that he was on camera when he had to hear this. You can see the "Oh Shit" look.
The main riff of the MGS theme is evident, though I think it is different enough to not have been stolen.
By the way, Harry Gregson Williams isn't credited with creating the "MGS Theme." Japanese artist TAPPY is.

I blame nanomachines, PMCs, and the War Economy.
Submitted by Anonimous
as a master of video game music, this sound quite different then the metal gear theme. similiar mode, but totally different melody and what not./
Submitted by Anonimous
all modern music is a "plagiarism" and borrow of the past, there is no melody today that cannot be traced to a root or foundation of an earlier composer. we must look at context and intent. contextually, the melody shares similar notes but its a classical variation on a theme whereas MGS is a progression. intentionally copied? i doubt it, one even say the original composer copied folk songs which is where all Russian music tends to originate from
Submitted by Anonimous
It's Coincidence, i play tons of music and make my own, and sometimes the music i make, sounds exactly like some songs i just bearly heard on intstrumental cds.... im like wutaf???
Submitted by Anonimous
..pay a small fee to who? Copyrights didnt exist under the Soviet government. I randomly plucked notes on a guitar once..and it sounded alot like the x-files theme..did I intentionally copy that? no.
I want to commend the composer of the MGS theme for randomly pulling 4-5 notes out of thin air and arranging them to a tune that sounds a bit like this song in a few places.
No plagiarism, no malice, no harm, no foul.
Vesko33? You're an idiot.
Submitted by Anonimous
whenever i start getting the MGS theme song in my head during the day i accidentally start humming the tune to "the rock" (Nicholas Cage movie) also an amazing soundtrack. they are very similar too, but you cant go shouting plagiarism whenever something sounds similar. im sure this video is dubbed wrong. Hideo would have gotten permission to play this amazing song, he wouldnt have taken the chance on sneaking it in there and getting in trouble. especially as the main theme
Submitted by Anonimous
Cool. Thanks for the info.
Submitted by Anonimous
anyone who sais this is coincidence and doesn't admit in the least to similarities between the two is an outright fool.
Submitted by Anonimous
Well... ...it happens. John Williams has made this how many times? Check his Jaws theme against Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, and many other examples...
Submitted by Anonimous
in a few seconds sounds like MGS track
but are so differents after all
Submitted by Anonimous
There are similar parts but it always seems to break off from MGs around the ends of the measures. I wouldn't say plagiarism.
Submitted by Anonimous
I nearly forgot! I didn't even think of that. So, who composed the music for MGS1? Not that I consider it to be plagerism, but there are some stark similarities.
Submitted by Anonimous
This country is too sue-happy for it's own good. This is purely coincedential and shouldn't be THIS big a problem since all the MGS games have a disclaimer. Oh, well. When this problem gets solved, they can make the song available via their network.
Submitted by Anonimous
MGS4 is my favourite PS3 game =\ I still play MGO sometimes.
Submitted by Anonimous
I must say that this show did not say anything about plagiarism, it just pointed out how similar these tunes are. I think that everyone out there who, like me, composes music by theirselves will fully agree when I say that you often get unintentionally inspired to create a song which is actually a dark memory of a song you already know but cannot remember. TAPPY or whoever made the MGS theme must have heard the original song as one of many, not recognizing they were somewhat copying it.
Submitted by Anonimous
yes those gekkos just peed they do it all of the time its funny
Submitted by Anonimous
They aren't just "similar" though. Then main verse is pretty much an exact copy note for note, just a slight change on timing. Now, whether or not it was on purpose, I have no idea. For all I know, this guy might have heard the song, then forgot about it, and remembered the melody when writing the MGS main theme, not knowing that it was in fact from another song. That happens a lot actually.
Submitted by Anonimous
who gives a fuck, metal gear solid theme rules....it has been edited and remastered better now
Submitted by Anonimous
thts true snake eater happened in the 60's thts 14 years earlier i think they owe hideo an appology
Submitted by Anonimous
DEY NEED DA MONEYZ!
Submitted by Anonimous
si are they accusing Hideo of plaigiarising or accusing the Russian? I can't tell...
Submitted by Anonimous
guys take some music lessons, in Music that is PLAGIARISM, the melody, the armony, etc is almost the same...that in MUSIC is plagiarim...i love MGS series, but i need to recognize some things, like Harry Gregson Williams maybe was VERY influencied by mister Sviridov music.
Submitted by Anonimous
for it to be plagiarism it has to be the same
it sounds similar but you can tell its totally different. sounds more like zelda music to me
Submitted by Anonimous
also, may I address, that this shouldn't be brought to Hideo Kojima. Hideo Kojima is the creator of Solid Snake and the premise behind Metal Gear.
The composer for the Metal Gear Solid series music is Harry Gregson-Williams. If any questions should be mentioned, it should be to him.
Submitted by Anonimous
hey at least its not like FFXII... its a good game, but its like playing a revamped star wars...
Submitted by Anonimous
I love both versions. But it happens all the time. The again, I see it unfair, that a big company like Konami have used a song written by a well known Russian composer, even if he wasn't known in the West. Either way, it's a cool tune. Mr. Sviridov obviously knew his way around music. Rest in peace.
Submitted by Anonimous
You must be pretty stupid to believe those shitheads that they have been plagiating...
i meeen, it's just a tiny bit in the beginning that goes really close to the russian song, but if you start to think like this, we could start making a list that beholds likewise plagiates, and the list would be like longer than anything in this world...
these guys are only after publicity etc. Really sad!
Submitted by Anonimous
Coincidence???Are you serious guys???
Fans???What are you talking about man???
pffffffffff
Submitted by Anonimous
is not plagiarism, but the song are very similar
Submitted by Anonimous
Um.... as long as it's not EXACTLY the same, and as long as Kojima changed it up enough, it really doesn't matter whether or not the MGS theme is based on it. BTW, did those Gekko's just pee?
Submitted by Anonimous
hold up why do they only do this when only metal gear solid 4 was coming out and not for the others it might be becasue the russians got sad that they couldnt buy a ps3 and then wanted to ruin it for others
Submitted by Anonimous
Damn Russians!!
This is another mission for Snake...
Beep beep... *codec*
Submitted by Anonimous
Get your ears fixed
Submitted by Anonimous
So silly and ignorant.
I.E: The Forest Maze theme from Super Mario RPG sounds alot like 明治十七年の上海アリス from the Touhou series. It happens everywhere. Get over it.
Submitted by Anonimous
what I don't get is why people are getting so pissed off at this? I mean, they used the song for 3 games, andHideo Kojima did a good job on replacing the song with the "love theme"
Submitted by Anonimous
Because thats what those russians probably wanted. To make money from a 45 year old song
Submitted by Anonimous
i can only hear a few notes but thats it
Submitted by Anonimous
I appreciate your comment colddevil, nowadays we all need something to get thru life with full enjoyment whether it's a girl, a game or a beautiful piece of Music Art.
Take care man,
Submitted by Anonimous
Kojima has nothing to do with the music in MGS, he is not a composer, TAPPY is.
Submitted by Anonimous
its a coincidence
Submitted by Anonimous
i dont think this should be really serious, i mean the metal gear games are based off of the escape from NY/ LA movies and nobody really seems to take offense
Submitted by Anonimous
Sounds similar? Really? I don't think so...
Submitted by Anonimous
There's minor similarities. But, overall it's different.
Submitted by Anonimous
I think we're approaching a time where we will play games without music ever used againc. Cause using ABC notes leads to plagerism.
Submitted by Anonimous
they are very similar, however i would not go as far as to call it plagarism. many people before have composed music along the same lines as music before by complete accident and not realised, its a simple thing to occur, two people can have good ideas, i mean, greenday have a song and the way its played is almost identicle to an irish traditional song, but no way in hell was it copied
Submitted by Anonimous
omg rid a buk
Submitted by Anonimous
This is very similar.
Several parts have the exact same notes and the melodies are partly the same. This is where they got the inspiration from, no doubt!
Submitted by Anonimous
so who cares, its still a great song and a great game
Submitted by Anonimous
You put that great into words! :)
Submitted by Anonimous
Actually we (russians) like a lot that people listen to music of our great composers. Nobody wants to sue Kojima. But listen... russian original is much better. Sviridov wrote a lot of beautyful music.
Submitted by Anonimous
Kind of. One of the biggest gaming magazines in Russia. Bun not one of the best though %)
Submitted by Anonimous
"The truth is, Konami [had legal problems with] Russian composers who said we stole their music," Hibino told EGM. They didn't [steal their music], actually. But Konami was too sensitive about the situation and just decided not to use that music in the game." -- EGM via Gamasutra
Submitted by Anonimous
Hido Kojima is the best videogame dirrector ever, don't fool yourself just because of the theme
Submitted by Anonimous
Oh leave him alone!
You can tell some parts contain the same notes but the rhythm is completely different!
I mean come on, what about today's music? A LOT of it is basically the same rhythm, & isn't THAT plagiarism?
He's just out to get Hideo's money.
Submitted by Anonimous
As if Kojima himself wrote the music... They should've thrown that record at Harry Gregson Williams instead.
Submitted by Anonimous
Thing is he could have hearded it along time ago and then made the metal gear theme without knowning he copied the old song. They sound very much alike though.
Submitted by Anonimous
XD I LOVE PLAYING IT ON MY DOOVDE
Submitted by Anonimous
No it does not. Learn law fool.
Submitted by Anonimous
Ya 1 note! 1 note sounded like MGS's theme
Submitted by Anonimous
nice one, +1 for you
Submitted by Anonimous
"completely different tunes"
well, you should study a bit harder then, buddy, cuz saying they are "completely different" is just laughable. check out the video response if you still can't hear that the theme was clearly lifted from Sviridov. The two key melodies are fundimentally the same.
Submitted by Anonimous
u kno hes just trying to play it off...hes like "how could this have happened"...but in his mind hes saying.."fuck, im caught!!"
Submitted by Anonimous
Wow, that's kinda bullshit. That was the best theme to any game I had ever heard and Kojima can't use it because they "think" it's plagiarized? They don't sound anywhere close enough for it to be considered plagiarized. What a dirty slut... I liked that MGS theme, it was so good!
Submitted by Anonimous
Words cannot explain how much I dislike Igromania games magazine. I believe in Karma so i wont go into what i wish would happen to these fuck faces. They ruined what could have been a potentially amazing theme song. Instead we got "metal gear saga"
Submitted by Anonimous
It is a bigest videogame magazine in Europe
Submitted by Anonimous
it's a popular pc-magazine in russia.
Submitted by Anonimous
Не пиши лучше ничего, не позорь собой Россию.
Submitted by Anonimous
That does sound remarkably similar. Fortunately, I'd say the Metal Gear Solid 4 theme is still extremely awesome. Looking outside the box, and not from the Metal Gear Solid typical fanboy point of view, I'd say this may very well be plagiarism. I can't see a composer making a song this strikingly similar unconsciously, or at least without some inspiration.
Submitted by Anonimous
fail u sue them like wat? after 20 years wtf
Submitted by Anonimous
Oh, Benjamin Franklin was a retard and the US first lady is a fucking whore then. Have a nice day.
Submitted by Anonimous
OMG. it happened! So many music pieces have been written to the point that any music you listen to must have had something similar written by some obscure musician!
But no, obviously, they didn't steal it. It just doesn't make any sense. Also, Hideo Kojima is not the one who created the music, so he shouldn't even be questioned in the first place. Stop being dumbasses
Submitted by Anonimous
Snake should go sabotage Igromania games magazine for this. They prevented the greatest video game theme ever from reaching MGS 4.
Submitted by Anonimous
THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT SONGS!!!
that russian song is totally different from MGS...
youd have to be a complete IDIOT not to hear the differences
Submitted by Anonimous
Fucking retarded russians.
Submitted by Anonimous
the song is damn similar, but as far as i see it, kojima may have took it, modified it, and made it better. so id still say its his.
Submitted by Anonimous
Its pretty stupid, this whole plagiarism thing, there are millions of songs out there and the numbers are rapidly increasing! Just because he got some inspiration doesn't mean you should just ban it, think of all the awesome songs there would be if they didn't ban them! seriously......
Submitted by Anonimous
Thieves!
Submitted by Anonimous
I don't know what the techinical military is.
But...Kojima's pretty fucked up down here, he needs help (& a LOT of it) to get the old theme back.
Submitted by Anonimous
No odds at all. It's a crime, a dishonest act.
Submitted by Anonimous
kojima should cqc the guy and stole da FUKING COPYRIGHT
Submitted by Anonimous
Quality over quantity, besides; you cannot compare the two games, they are both too different, neither is superior overall.
Submitted by Anonimous
I blame the Patriots.
Submitted by Anonimous
Hell ya
Submitted by Anonimous
ZSSR (CCCP) was plagiating everything from everyone... especially from Poland.
Submitted by Anonimous
Sviridov's piece is classier than the Metal Gear Solid theme, but it wouldn't have suited the game as well. The MGS theme is clearly heavily influenced by it though!
Submitted by Anonimous
That's right, racism's the way to solve problems...
Submitted by Anonimous
The quality of MGS is much better I can guarentee if you did a survey to a bunch of random video game players over half would say MGS why? the serieis has lasted over 20 years and is still admired and played by most video game players some of them still play Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake the originals like me the metal gear series will NEVER EVER BE SURPASSED!! by anything or anyone
Submitted by Anonimous
god too far. "fuck russia"???
shakes head.
Submitted by Anonimous
i'm sure he probably heard it somewhere, and then after a while "thought" of it again and, not knowing whether there was a source of the song or not, decided to compose it. i know that sometimes i try to come up with my own beats but end up thinking "wait, wasn't that in someone else's song?" often.
Submitted by Anonimous
As they say, secret always becomes obvious. Always. :)
Submitted by Anonimous
I can hear similarities, but not enough to call it plagarism. There'll come a time when no musical melody will sound completely original.
Submitted by Anonimous
Simple, if this was plagiarism, Konami would have been sued long ago already. Period.
Submitted by Anonimous
This is why the theme was changed in MGS4!? GO FUCK YOURSELF RUSSIA!
Submitted by Anonimous
asmog1984, u say fucking Japans?
FUCKING GOD DAMN PIECE OF SHIT ASSHOLE SHITHEAD BITCH RUSSIANS! FUCK YOUR MOTHERLAND!
Submitted by Anonimous
only the first lil part and 1 other part later on kinda sounds like it... more of reminds me of SSBM...
Submitted by Anonimous
Shit! I'd hate to be in your shoes right now, Kojima. (No offence, but you stepped in some pretty deep crap just now).
Submitted by Anonimous
they didn't use the theme in MGS4 anymore - not even on the virtual I-Pod.
Only one character whistled the tune during the game...
Submitted by Anonimous
is this why they didn't use the original theme for mgs4 and changed it?
Submitted by Anonimous
That sucks it was an awesome theme too. Wish they could have paid the rights since it was sort of weird that it wasn't in the final game of the series (allegedly).
Submitted by Anonimous
Trust me, the russians couldn't sue him over this because they ARE not the same. To ear it sounds the same but if you lay them out in scoresheets you'll notice a vast amount of difference.
Submitted by Anonimous
lol kojima is like i dont give a fuck my versions better
Submitted by Anonimous
i think maybe he based it off this song or it was far to much of a coincidence.
Submitted by Anonimous
This happens all the time. Whether they heard this song at one point and unconsciously copied it or just through probabilities of chance they sound the same.
There is just too much music, too many idea's from literature and film that making something near 100% original now is very improbable.
Submitted by Anonimous
ok, first of all, I am a big MGS fan like you, and I like the MGS version.
But let me assure you, this is PLAGIARISM. Because BOTH themes of it are almost identical to the Russian classical piece. One can't be coincidental twice in a song.
If it is borrowed, then where is the credit due to the original? Thievies always say they were just borrowing then they are caught.
Submitted by Anonimous
seriously, it is hard to make music now days that dosn't sound like something already created... just the way it goes.
Submitted by Anonimous
Similar. Not the same.
Submitted by Anonimous
It is remarkably similar to the MGS theme, but not to the point where MGS is a total ripoff of this tune. Inspiration is a large factor here, as while this version is very orchestral, the MGS theme has it's more actiony drums, base and slightly increased tempo, with different parts between the main tune.
Submitted by Anonimous
I agree. Irony maybe?
Submitted by Anonimous
Coincidencia, varias musicas usam essa recurso que tornam a musica semelhante a várias. Se pegarmos um tema de filme épico vera que muitas são parecidas mas não a mesma
Submitted by Anonimous
bit of a stretch really.
Submitted by Anonimous
so here its plagiarism, but in rap its "remix"
Submitted by Anonimous
It is similar and almost the same in the few first second (sorry for double post edit)
Submitted by Anonimous
program music is alot of the time based on ideas frome over music. The ideas in the mgs theam are similar in some ways but it dont meen he didnt come up with it hime self. If u classified all music in the same key as plagerism of its predisesors you be mad. (small exaduration of the point.
Submitted by Anonimous
O SHYT BYTCH
Submitted by Anonimous
lol the look on kojima's face. Hes all like "you gotta be shittin me man..."
Submitted by Anonimous
Anybody who says it's plagiarism, don't be a complete retard. Coincidences happen, and there have been weirder coincidences than this.
It's possible the MGS composer heard this sometime in his life and subconciously emulated it, but that's far different.
Think about it, the license for such an obscure tune would be cheap as hell and I'm sure they would have loved to have slapped "main theme based on russian composer bla bla bla" on a game who's tagline was "tactical espionage action"
Submitted by Anonimous
Harry Gregson Williams was as unaware of this than Hideo Kojima. This is the MGS1 theme and Harry Gregson Williams didn't start making music for Hideo Kojima till MGS2.
Submitted by Anonimous
"If you're going to steal, steal from the best."
Submitted by Anonimous
I study music. This and MGS's theme are completely different tunes. It sounds similar ONLY because of the tone. But if i were to write scores for both of the compared tunes, they would be totally different.
Submitted by Anonimous

The intro to MGS1... similar thing. I really want something done about it, because I want the original motif back!
Submitted by Anonimous
How can you be done for plagiarism when you didn't even know it existed. Look at his face hes really shocked. Its a surprise to him.
Submitted by Anonimous
The reason why it sounds so similar is because it uses the same motif and its structured like many Russian pieces.especially after the popularity of Tchaikovsky. Though similar, it doesn't sound close enough to be considered plagiarism.
The Carmina Burana is another good example of a common musical structure. Listen to all that epic music you hear in every trailer at the movies.
Submitted by Anonimous
True story.
Submitted by Anonimous
sounds similar in that one part, but overall it has a different tone to it and the rest of it sounds completely different.
Submitted by Anonimous
didn't harry gregson williams composed it..so they should sue his ass for this..it is sad to see the main theme of MGS is gone..the best version was in mgs2 though

It's similar, but I mean, That's how all music is. It shows influence, and even if they are similar, it doesn't mean he ripped it off. There have been much stranger coincidences. And personally, it's beautiful music, both this track, and the MGS theme.
Submitted by Anonimous
Good point. Either way, it seems silly to have a go at Kojima when he's in charge of directing and wrote some of the story.
Submitted by Anonimous
It does have some pretty similar bits. Too bad, I really liked that tune, and it's absence from mgs4 was noticeable.

People you should nknow who A. Loginov is(one of the journalists). He works in Igromania(the biggest VG magazine in Russia), he's a great MGS fan(probably bigger than all of us here(he's also the first russian journalist to gain KZ2 like month ago). He isn't trying to sue Kojima here, he'd just found this opera and found it really similiar to MGS main theme, thats all, he just wanted to show Hideo how similiar they were(btw, it's not the reason MGS theme was deleted in MGS4).
Submitted by Anonimous
you cant make that asumption
Submitted by Anonimous
Entire vid summed up in a few, meaningful words:
Who the fuck gives a damn.
Submitted by Anonimous
who gives a shit its mother fucking hideo kojima.
but seriously the music fit the clip from mgs4 pretty well itd be cool if they added it as in-game ipod music as homage to the similar melody or something
Submitted by Anonimous
Oh please, because of that old music they ruined the theme of MGS? Thankyou!
Submitted by Anonimous
I've been playing music for three years, and I've got quite a good ear by now. So sorry, but no.
Submitted by Anonimous
isnt it quite possible for two people to think of the same song, without hearing the other.

why didn't they just buy the rights to this song and use it in metal gear solid 4?
Submitted by Anonimous
To whom it is necessary will understand that I had in view of

Submitted by Anonimous
Lol Russians hate MGS just cos Big Boss pwned their country in Operation Snake Eater.
Seriously though they've tried very hard to ruin MGS 4 for the millions of fans, what exactly were they expecting? A big pay off from Kojima and co? Well all they got was fuck all and MGS 4 went ahead without the classic MGS theme. *Salute* to you Russians (not).
Submitted by Anonimous
What was consaquenses after this happened?
Submitted by Anonimous
fucking fat soviet bastard,YOU KILLED MGS MAIN THEME!!, really don't know how you can live with your self, the melody was written back then in the comunist era! no russian have private or copyrights back them and the guy who wrote this die many years ago... if it wasn't for mgs one would even know aout that composer!!!! fuckong soviets they don't destoyed the world, but they killed mgs theme!!! bastards!, can't you even take this as a nice homenage, all you want now is money!, ironic isn't?
Submitted by Anonimous
"This is why the theme was changed in MGS4!? GO FUCK YOURSELF RUSSIA!"
You actually find this funny?
Submitted by Anonimous
The MGS1 composer was a Japanese guy named...Tappy Iwase.
Submitted by Anonimous
Well ... good luck to prove it's plagiarism, this is "only sound" you just can't physicaly do anything différent without changing the law of physics.
I have myself a hard work to make understand that somes series are complete rip-off of another even tough picture, dialog, staging, characters, plot and even music are by "pure coincidence" more similar than twins.
Ho and anyway Kojima rock ! This music should feel to be choosen into being in his master piece. :D
Submitted by Anonimous
Lol, its revenge for them always being the villians in MGS =)
Submitted by Anonimous
I think these guys are pigs. Most likely, Tappy did that subconciously, without knowing, then never made the connection. The similarity is vague. Get over it.
Submitted by Anonimous
The man is dead.
Copyrights didnt exist under the soviet system and thus there is no need to "pay" anyone.
But its not copied so there is no point.
Submitted by Anonimous
One question:
WHO is the author of MGS main theme?
Submitted by Anonimous
Yeah, why would the great Harry Gregson-Williams need to steal? I'm sure he could come up with his owns stuff considering he did most of the rest.
Submitted by Anonimous
They should have payed the man, credited him, and kept the theme. mgs4 wasnt the same without that song
Submitted by Anonimous
Almost every note's combination is already used... Who is to blame?
Submitted by Anonimous
Well I realize why people would say they sound similar, but first Kojima, didn't compose the Main theme, and Sure, you can compare this to several Piano remixes of the theme, but when comparing the russian Symphany to the theme in one of its original forms, like the Intro movie to MGS2, They Sound almost nothing alike.
Submitted by Anonimous
type in: the snowstorm on youtube
Submitted by Anonimous
kojima was probably like "where harry gregson williams at??? get his ass into my office RIGHT NOW!!!!!"
Submitted by Anonimous
Harry Gregson Williams didn't steal this song. The theme is from MGS1 and Harry Gregson Williams just beefed it up for MGS2. Gregson Williams didn't compose the music from MGS1.
Submitted by Anonimous
to avoid conflicts why doesn't Konami just buy the rights to the song.
I bet svridov's family would have been honored to have the music in the game. How much could an unknown 30 yr old song cost?
Submitted by Anonimous
sounds exactly as metal gear solid theme!!!!!!
everybody with ears knows it!!!
but doesn't make the mgs theme less beautiful.
Submitted by Anonimous
I smell the second coming of Andre Lloyd Webber
Submitted by Anonimous
it's evident, the song is a copy, the verses are TOO DAMN SIMILAR!!! and the transitions, the verses are in the same order!
but still, the metal gear version is more adequate as a game theme, the original version doesn't have the same rhythm, the game version is more action-like, simpler and easier to remember...
I think the irony in this story is the fact that the songwriter is russian, russians are always the bad guys in MGS
Submitted by Anonimous
I guess it does a bit
but not enough to be plagiarism
i mean ter can only be so many melodys in the world that some would sound similar
Submitted by Anonimous
It barely even sounds like the original MGS song.
Stupid tone-deaf bastards just want publicity.
It's not plagiarised.
Submitted by Anonimous
Anyway, stop being racist and insulting the russians, they have nothing to do with your fanboyism.

I don't think there would be a legal case here. It's also clear from Kojima's initial reaction that he had never heard the song. The antognistic way in which the man approaches him about it is just wrong, after all he didn't tell his composers - 'just rip off this old Russian song I love so much.' - I don't think they'd go along with that. If it's plagiarism Kojima likely didn't know about it.
Submitted by Anonimous
If you google this topic, you'll find articles that say that Konami removed the song from MGS4 to avoid the hassle of a copyright suit. So it seems like this had an effect. An annoying one, too, since I liked the song :(
Submitted by Anonimous
I too love music from MGS, but Sviridov is much more powerful.
It was plagiarism of clean water. Listen Sviridov's to original composition "Troyka". At once feel plagiarism from MGS.
Also there is nothing to speak bosh, that plagiarism is not present. It on the face.
Submitted by Anonimous
It was Tappi "TAPPY" Iwase who (allegedly) wrote the main theme for Metal Gear Solid. Harry Gregson-Williams wrote the music for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty, including a newer version of the Metal Gear Solid main theme.
Submitted by Anonimous
What?
"fucking japans"
this part made no sense
"this music belongs to russians, it's our soul"
Ok this is alright
no one damn MGS
"No one" this isn't soppose to be here
"Damn Metal Gear solid" Period
"can't spoil this EPIC theme" R u reffering to Metal gear solid? cuz ur saying like Metal Gear cant spoil it enuf
"so shut up, motehfuckers!!!!!!"
Why are u here?

i totally agree that he could've settled this without removing it from MGS4 because if there was any other MGS game to lose it, it shouldnt be this one considering it ends snake's story, but the original composer died in 1998 which ironically is the year that MGS came out.
Submitted by Anonimous
LMAO
Submitted by Anonimous
Nonsense. Tappy Iwase plagarised the music. Kojima has a lot of homages to movies and whatnot in his works - that isn't plagarism.
Submitted by Anonimous
blame it on Gregson' Willians
Submitted by Anonimous
Try copying some decent grammar.
Submitted by Anonimous
It's vaguely similar to me. Cannot be considered a plagiarism at all.
Submitted by Anonimous
At
1:40, it sounds more like Deus Ex - although the bit at
1:12 is nearly spot-on MGS2 theme.
Submitted by Anonimous
I think TAPPY was inspired by this, obviously, but it's not stealing in my mind because some of the notes are different, missing, or placed differently in each song. Honestly, I hate to insult the original creator but the MGS thme has better structure and is more memorable imo.
Submitted by Anonimous
Harry Gregson-Williams had nothing to do with this as he simply arranged the main theme written by the Japanese composer. The piece doesn't have to be 100% identical to be deemed plagiarism. Call it "derivative work" if you will, it's still plagiarism. Remember the recent Tyler Bates' scandal? It should be evident to anyone who listened to both tracks that MGS creators clearly did borrow from Sviridov's work. For some they didn't bother to credit him in any way though.

Damn the Patriots!
Submitted by Anonimous
it barely sounds alike. A few notes are the same thats it, completely different melody esp arond
2:15 mark
Submitted by Anonimous
as a student of music theory, it is obvious to me by the note patterns and melody.....
It doesn't matter though. Mgs is awesome. Its not kojima's fault...and the mgs versions is vastly superior.
Submitted by Anonimous
There are some similarities, but if this is plagiarism then every single american band of the last 50 years has plagiarized some one at some point, only because they have a lead singer, a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. I also imagine that every movie with the word "the" in the title is guilty as well. Seriously, this is fucking retarded. Not only is the Metal Gear Solid theme vastly different from the other song, it's leaps and bounds more powerful, less pretentious sounding, and better.
Submitted by Anonimous
whys he naughty he didnt write the song
Submitted by Anonimous
I like Hideo's floral shirt ^_^
Submitted by Anonimous
1. Why do you guys think the main theme was changed in the MGS3? DUH!
2. I love looking at JAPS pretending to be oblivious and trying to laugh it off. You dumb fucks got caught! Own up to it!
Submitted by Anonimous
i lol'd.
Submitted by Anonimous
No. Harry Gregson-Williams was not involved in the composing of the original main theme. He only made his own versions of it for Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3.
Submitted by Anonimous
but I like mgs main theme still
Submitted by Anonimous
thats the only logical answer! fuck russia kojima is mightier!!!! XD
Submitted by Anonimous
I hear some slight similiarities.
Submitted by Anonimous
this music stole by OCELOT he is form russia so its mean nothing...
Submitted by Anonimous
fucking russians they just wanted money with their fucking heads don't get me wrong i don't hate russians in general just those russians who fucked op mgs4 it could be a better game (it allready is an exelent game) but it could be better with the mgs main theme!!!
Submitted by Anonimous
its not plagiarism, its INSPIRATION!!! Something some of us don't have.
Submitted by Anonimous
No.
Submitted by Anonimous
It seems like plagiarism as there are two same sounding melodies :O The base elements are the same.
Submitted by Anonimous
It sounds similar, but nowhere near enough to be say MGS Theme copied it. They're just grasping at straws.
Submitted by Anonimous
By the way, Mr Sviridov died in 1998 when metal gear solid was released in ps1 console.
Submitted by Anonimous

MMM for that i think , the metal gear solid theme is not in mgs 4 for that?
Submitted by Anonimous
HAHA AWESOME!
Submitted by Anonimous
only one part of the song sounds the same
Submitted by Anonimous
This is definatly stolen, it's so damn obvious. Probally not directly, they weren't copying it, but someone must have heard this symphony and then got it in his head and later made a song out of it.
Submitted by Anonimous
At least!
Submitted by Anonimous
nah its just similar
Submitted by Anonimous
You're thinking of Halo as "Mass culture for ignorant teenagers". MGS is for intelligent people who loves good stories and games that do stuff no other games can do. You're obviously the ignorant one here.
Submitted by Anonimous
hideos playing ygioh
Submitted by Anonimous
yea me 2 with the thing at the thing when the melody rises and lowers multiple times
Submitted by Anonimous
What are the odds of that?
Submitted by Anonimous
ok lets just clear this up for the people that think Harry Gregson Williams plagiarised the 1974 theme - the japanese music team for MGS1 came out with this them before harry gregson got involved with the series so how could he have just plagiarised it???? when he joined the MGS2 team, he REMIXED the MGS1 theme made by the japanese music crew who most likely got their inspiration from the song in this video! Besides, if he wanted to, HGW could have come up with a way better mgs theme by himself!
Submitted by Anonimous
Totally plagiarism, just like a lot of Hideo Kojima's work. The man is a hack.
Submitted by Anonimous
snake eater took place in teh 60s....so the russian is plagerizing hideo :p
Submitted by Anonimous
You're terribly mistake. Everyone, even the last redneck in the former USSR knows this melody, as well as those individuals that have at least some basic knowledge of modern classical music. It's been one of the cult music themes as well as all Snowstorm themes for over 30 years. And what is your metal gear? Mass culture for ignorant teenagers. You're making yourself a laughing stock with such comments.
Submitted by Anonimous
This is so embarassing. I loved it <3
And thanks for posting the link for this beautiful music
Submitted by Anonimous
it sounds a bit similar
but is that really enough to take it out of mgs4?
ive heard songs copy other songs WAY more then this but they still were sold
Submitted by Anonimous
"I've got a little present for you."
Yeah, nice move, asshole. Very smooth.
Submitted by Anonimous
Your intelligence is astounding. If MGS was unpopular, how would they have found out?
Submitted by Anonimous
Great music.
Great arrangement for MGS.
Blatantly stolen.
Sucks that the theme isn't in MGS4 because of this. They should have just bought a license to use it (and licenses for the previous use) and included the original composer in the credits.
Submitted by Anonimous
Lol people taking offense from jokes on youtube comments lolololol
Submitted by Anonimous
That calls insperation. Snake is also part of rambo. en the dialog is not bad as you make it.
this sound is not exakt the same as the theme of mgs. lissted more to mgs themme and you will see. i promise that other games you have played is inspred in other games. for exempel Gears of war was inspred of Reisndet evil 4 game concpet. does this mean that Gears of wa cpoing it ? or ther games that have the same concept ?
Submitted by Anonimous
At
0:59, right after the Russian says about Pushkin's poems, the music sounds more like Deus Ex main theme...
Submitted by Anonimous
It was changed in MGS3 but they kept the old piece after the new piece finished.
In MGS4, (thanks to the cockbiting fucktard who thought the old piece was ripped off someone else) the old piece was eliminated, leaving only the new piece.
Submitted by Anonimous
Lol thats why the creativity of the people are limited in originality in which in the modern day everything has been already heard or done. I hate the world for being just that. And, my opinion on the matter, there are few notes that are identical or just plainly similar but the WHOLE piece isn't identical to the theme of MGS. WTH!!
Submitted by Anonimous
They couldn't put the Metal Gear Theme in Metal Gear Solid 4.
Submitted by Anonimous
How many songs did Valve steal for any of their games? Oh right... none! LOL
Submitted by Anonimous
Theyre working for microsoft lol
Submitted by Anonimous
Cant be a coincidence when more than one part sounds the same...
But yeah... it was an old song nobody cares about and these guys more than put it to good use. And anyway... isnt the composers fault? Gregson williams?
Submitted by Anonimous

Very sad russian classic melody=(
Submitted by Anonimous

Submitted by Anonimous
dai cazzo è parecchio uguale...e stupenda
Submitted by Anonimous
Cuz of this stupid coincidence they couldn't put the greatest theme song in the greatest video game ever, good job douche bag who claimed this was plagiarism
Submitted by Anonimous
When all is said and done, there will be more people that will have heard the MGS theme than the original from which it has borrowed from. Frankly, I believe the theme was arranged very well. So yes, thanks Sviridov, you helped give birth to an even greater sounding piece of music, one that I can enjoy in an interactive piece of media. That is all that I am thankful for.
Submitted by Anonimous
Just because they sound alike doesn't mean he stole it,loads of music sounds like other songs.
Submitted by Anonimous
It's a shame the series can't use the original theme anymore. Fortunately for me, I actually like the new theme better, but they're both amazing (my only regret is that "Show Time" sounded much better with the theme included).
But seriously, whoever blames in on Kojima needs to shut the fuck up, since he had nothing to do with the composition of the theme.
Submitted by Anonimous
жаль дату в съемки не сказали.. да и все равно это уже музычка теперь принадлежит metal gear! как не крути)
Submitted by Anonimous
Williams remixed it for MGS2, didn't he?
Submitted by Anonimous
Exactly and you can obviously see he's totally baffled
Submitted by Anonimous
it is sometimes really terrifying reading what some guys are writing here. it´s just overreaction. my god, the whole thing might be a coincidence, that´s all.
Submitted by Anonimous
Good of many over few, or the right over the wrong? Classic ethics question right there.
Submitted by Anonimous
just a coincidence.
If you were gonna write a song there will always be a good chance that it may sound similar to other songs. there are like millions of different songs around the world. very good chance that some may sound similar to each other :)
Submitted by Anonimous
i just thinks its unnecessary to compare 2 completely different games
Submitted by Anonimous
They can't stop whining against popular things. NO ONE SAID A SINGLE WORD ABOUT THIS UNTIL MGS FANCHRISE OUTRANKS EVERYTHING IN RUSSIA!

Similarities happen all the time like this with films. There are lawsuits but none are founded. Here, there are similarities but the two are different enough to be considered different pieces.
Submitted by Anonimous
I always know then I hear a borrowed melody and this is the case
Submitted by Anonimous
I dont believe either of those are copyrighted. so bad example. Now I dont get your anti russian composer bit here, yes they are going after the wrong guy (though he is really the best representative they might have known to contact) and they should have gone after the composer, but its odd to be so irritated with the russian composer nagging about this, last I checked, thats how copyright infringement goes. Overall though, I think the situation will resolve itself, metal gear is no less awesome
Submitted by Anonimous
I love how Kojima just sits there looking at the CD like a dumbass.
Submitted by Anonimous
does'nt soud shit like metal gear is porbably the same key
Submitted by Anonimous
CHECK OUT MY VERSION OF THE MAIN THEME on the piano!!!
Submitted by Anonimous
Yeah? And how many songs are there? This is not plagiarism.
